Vision for Nepal

Hello World. I am a Nepali citizen and sometimes it gets in my nerves, that Nepal is not a developed country. Why do we do this. I have not traveled abroad too much but the things I hear and understand, other countries are not so great either. There are just small things that they are better then Nepal is. Being Nepal our own country, we have formed a habit of ignoring these minor things.

Example 1.

It is a time of Dashain for Hindus. I was walking with my father in the streets of kalanki and then the conversation begin, about the difference of culture of Hindus in Nepal and India. He owns a shop in a village near the border of Nepal and India, and has traveled India a lot. In Nepal from the day1 of Dashain, people have to eat meat. Lots of Goats, Cocks are seen in the road, buses etc. In India, people don't eat meat at all for this ten days. Lots of people just live with Lemon and water for these ten days. Even the recent and popular prime minister of India, has gone to USA, is on fast. Now which one sounds better, a culture where people become monsters during the time of festival, or the culture where people worship their Gods and Goddess while fasting and not make festival as an excuse for killing innocent animals for meat. Also, during Dashain, shopkeepers in India put a statue of Goddess Durga in front of their shop as a symbol of Dashain, and respect for Goddess Durga, but we don't see them in Nepal. A culture that sounds better, makes a difference.

Example 2.

Crime happens in every part of the world. What does not happen is the way people deal with it. Now if this was the barbarian era, where those people who have the power have the right to rule and do whatever they want to do, Nobody has anything to say in this country. But since it the era, where there is a government to rule and control the happenings, People should have the basic sense to unite and protest the wrong happenings and accept those that are not fatal at all. There is no one government and one party that rules here, and that situation invites this mess . The mess of the fight of power. In many places, people clearly see who is knowingly or unknowingly led to the wrong path, and they just stand by and watch. Until the problem becomes so big that it starts harming the common people. They just gather in the Tea time and complain and things. A habit of people speaking up clearly and loudly as early as possible can make so much change for the country.

Example 3

There are lots of habit issues. And surroundings affect the psychology, and psychology affects the habits. People here have the notion of selfishness and carelessness. They don't care if the person is trying to cross the road, and may be I should slow down the vehicle and let them pass. Those who apply pressure wins here and that situation is a disaster. I was talking to a friend, who had been here from USA, and he confessed that he is scared to even cross the roads of Nepal nowadays. The drivers have no decency to slow down and let the foot walkers pass the road, even on the zebra crossing. That's because everybody else does the same.

Example 4

Well there are lots of example where we could improve. May be someday, the government will start focusing on these minor things when its done fighting among the different parties about who should come into power and stuff like that. People here may stop polluting the city by throwing waste here and there. They may stop breaking the rules where there is possibility of not being caught. The transportation system could be enhanced to reduce the crowd on the public vehicles. The pricing of goods could be little more transparent.
